Pros Story Recs

Laeti Triumphantes by Sineala - short - Proslib -Middle of the night, Bodie P, first time hotness - what’s not to love! New

Waiting to Fall by Rob - lusciously long novel! - The story starts with Bodie being ordered to collect ex PC Doyle from prison and train him up to be a CI5 agent. Doyle gains Bodie’s (grudging, at first) respect, then friendship and finally... But they go through many ups and downs along the way. Set firmly in the CI5 universe but very cleverly altered, and there are some lovely flashes of humour (lots of h/c too!) Well worth the paper and printer ink - and lots is needed!

Splice Knot by Slantedlight - short sequel to Just Enough Rope set two hours later.

Brethren of the Coast by Rebelcat - medium length - Rebelcat has a talent for voices. This story has the lads trying to resist the inevitable with lovely humour and a bit of h/c to boot.

A Rainy Night in Soho by Kitty Fisher - short - Doyle’s worried about the partnership. Why has Bodie changed?

Foreplay by Elizabeth Holden (Hatstand not Circuit Archive) - spring fever and an MI6 murder - snappy short story.

Party Series by O Yardley - well, actually a series of 26 short stories set mostly after episodes and follow a developing relationship.

Wonderful Tonight by Sebastian - longish - I adore this story which links in closely with several episodes, especially Wild Justice and Susie ... just watch them after reading this, then read it again - it’s brilliant!

Absent Friends by Jane Carnall and Ann Johnson - very short. The lads visit Cowley in his retirement, animal lovers should like this!

A Summer’s Outing and its sequel, Devices and Desires by M Fae Glasgow - long (when read together) - the first story is angsty, political and shattering, the sequel is set ten years later. Both are terrific reads with meaty dialogue and characterisation.

Third Week in April by Ellis Ward - med/long - h/c story set post No Stone/Ojuka.

Florida Sunshine by DVS - medium length Bodie PoV. Stuck in Florida for a few days B&D embark on a bit of R&R.

Testing the Claim by Krisser - short PWP - hold your breath Bodie!

Heat-Trace by Helen Raven - novel - angsty, researched, compelling.

Out of the Shadows by Ashlea - medium length - Bodie’s suffered major psychological trauma, in Doyle’s voice.

Matters in Hand by Brenda K - longish - alternating PoVs, a bit of a favourite of mine.

The Chameleon’s Dish by Kitty Fisher - longish betrayal story set 8 years on.

The Natural Order of Things by Rebelcat - short, post Public Interest. Great voices, made me laugh out loud.

Poison Apples by Pamela Rose - long - Wicker Man Crossover. Bodie’s left the fold Doyle pursues.

Three Bells and its sequel, Bike Night by PFL - atmospheric and yummy!

Joy of Camping by Miriam Heddy - medium - Revelations and realisations in a rain-soaked tent.

Inside by Rowan - medium length - intense, dark, not for feint hearted.

Flight of Fancy by Gael X Ile - medium - narky Doyle, funny Bodie a mile in the Sky.

Just Enough Rope by Slantedlight - medium - Doyle loses his equilibrium.

The Cook and the Warehouseman by Helen Raven - novel - Bodie’s CI5, Doyle’s an alien. Lovely long read - and I thought I didn’t like sci-fi. Probably plenty will disagree  but I think the Bodie in this story is bang on.

Hyperion to a Satyr by Sebastian - medium - an absolute classic!

Love in a Cold Country by JoJo - medium - new year, snow, peril, classy.

Broken Cover by Angelfish Archivist - medium length h/c set post Slush Fund.
